I started my self-publishing career with Ron and his company and believe me I thank my lucky stars that I did. You have many companies out there that are full of scams (and I know many authors who lost their shirts as well as their book rights) but before I even did business with Ron, he educated me about the business of self-publishing before I spent a dime. I'm proud to say I went on to sell 65,000 copies of my first book independently and then got signed to Random House Publishing to boot. It works if you work it and Ron and his staff help me when I needed it. Thank you Ron

Ron, I wrote before to ask if I use offset (?) printing with your firm (which?) do I wind up having to pay for copies of my own books? Or do I own them outright and can sell outright on my website? Is this POD. PQN or what ?

We have 100 assigned ISBNs, which won't all be used, but they guarantee ownernship.

I have a grammar and word book I wrote after eleven years as a Sr. Editor for an aerospace company, which also involved PR information, so I will be editing my own work. Mainly could use professional help on text format check / preparation and cover design, etc. Approx. 140 - 150 pages, #60, 6" X 9" trim size. b&w text, perfect bound(w/grain), 4-color or perhaps 2-color cover, gloss finish. Probably 100 - 300 copies to start)

You can check out my writing ability on my website under Anne Elmore and also my two A La Lansun books (Bookstore) offset from my personally prepared hard copy.

Marketing is my weak spot.

Getting my ducks in a row, Ron.

Thanks a lot for your good info. Look forward to it.

Wow,

Thank you for this wonderful information.

I have been reading your posts for a few years now. Although desirous of writing some day, it was only a passing thought because of not knowing where to start. Then you came along giving the needed direction and inspiration.

Now, having just about completed my first book on Hospice and needing guidance as where to go next, along comes your timely advice.

I have already interviewed two editors and choose not to go with either. What I was asking for was what the service you recommend does. Actually, what I wanted is exactly what she does for the minimal fee. Finding out if the book is hitting or missing the target is the most logical first step. It could save money, but more importantly for me, time.

Books are like babies. They are beautiful to the ones who brought them into the world. The only way to know if they are truly beautiful is a pageant. The baby pageant for a book is the market place. Now I have a consultant to say if there is even a chance or not.

I am excited and eagerly looking forward to taking the next steps.

Thank you for your insights, help and education. If there was a college class on this, it would cost a few thousand plus some very expensive book fees. Yet you have provided the education for free (well, almost free with a few reasonably priced books you recommend).

Looking forward to continuing my education with you and sharing my success, with a heart filled with gratitude, please accept my thanks.

I have a fully illustrated children's picture book. The illustrator has it on a power point presentation. I will will pay for an editorial analysis. This book has been read and critiqued by experts but you are the publishing experts and I want it perfect. This will be the first in a series.

Can I send you this 32 page book, approx. 1200 words on a disk and what would be the charge to transfer it to a PDF? I will start with 2,000 copies.

Sincerely,

Maura Moynihan Berzman

AttentionL: Ron Pramschufer

Your newsletter, "Publishing Basics", is not one of the best ... it IS the very best on the Internet. It's filled with very helpful information.

I have had 11 books published traditionally, and about 350 articles in National and International newspapers and magazines, never-the-less, your news letter offers me very worthwhile information that I can use. It appears that I don't know it all. However, it seems that you do.

I like the way you've organized the info. Great.

Thank you for your time and energy.

Hi Ron: I always find your newsletter filled with lots of useful information. I am currently at the printing stage. I've been working with Jonathan Gullery at selfpublishing.com for the book text formatting and cover design formatting for the printer. I've had many compliments on my cover design and found the process, as you say, seamless. I'm now ready to go to the printing phase, and again I will be using your selfpublishing.com.
