Three Strategies for Conquering Your Goals
Three Strategies for Conquering Your Goals
BE POSITIVE ABOUT OUTCOMES
Being positive about the outcome of your goals is the best way to keep going when tasks seem impossible. I know that if I just keep moving forward through the difficult tasks and events in my life, I will emerge on the other side and be rewarded. Life has taught me this lesson. The year long custody battle for my children taught me I was stronger than I ever imagined. Earning two degrees showed me that perseverance is half the battle. Raising children each day has taught me that the early years are a lot of work, but the rewards are in their eyes. Working on my writing projects until they are polished has taught me that a job done well is something to be very proud of. Being positive about the outcome of your goals helps one to see that the lesson is in the struggle and there is no such thing as a negative.
GROW TO LOVE HARD WORK
Hard work is all about energy. The highest level of energy is never available in the beginning of a goal or project. Once we get started on the goal or project, a burst of energy surfaces and takes over. I have found this to be true in all areas of my life. When I start writing, exercising, painting, or even cleaning the house - it is just so much easier after the initial start-up. The laws of physics are on our side once we begin. The inertia of our activity stimulates our brains right into the next sentence, next mile, next paint stroke, or next room. What happens is that you grow to love hard work because you know the results are worth it. The problem with some people is they never stick with the goal or project long enough to feel the magic power of the energy that comes in the middle. You may even grow to love hard work so much that you will feel denied if you miss it for even one day.
DREAM BIG
The ability to dream big is a great tool for conquering goals. It is very tricky to do because you have to block out the toxic thoughts and people all around you. You have to train yourself to get past your own fears and to write those big dreams down without dismissing them before they even hit the page. You have to really be open to the possibilities that you can accomplish what seems at this time completely unrealistic and impossible. The big dreaming is all up to you. No one else can dream the dream for you. Only you can do the hard work and remain positive to attain that dream. Writing your dreams down and mapping out the steps you must take to attain them somehow makes the dream more possible. If you don’t write the dreams down, they just seem to float around in your head. For instance, when I decided to start the National Association of Women Writers in 2001 and help bring women writers together, women like me, it seemed like a far fetched dream to my family and friends. It was my dream and I had learned form past experiences that it really didn’t matter what other people thought because no one could dream my dream like I could. We each have a dream in us that only we can discover. A dream that only we can make happen and a dream that only we can find true happiness doing.

Hi Sheri, here are some tips for goalsetting which helped me a lot to reach my own goals.
1) Willingness
If you can go the extra mile 10 times then you already reached 50% of your Goal
2) Endurance
If you are down and can kick your but upwards (motivate yourself) then you are able to reach higher grounds step by step. Remember: Nothing is easy otherwise everybody would be a millionar!
..and of course as Sheri said…work hard…harder…
